Facilitator - Indianapolis, Indiana

My name is Crissy Tohm.  Although I currently live in Indiana, I was raised in Wisconsin.  I am a mother to four beautiful children.  I have two daughters, Brea (13) and Desirae (12), and two sons, Cole (2) and Nicky, my angel.

Nicky was born September 4, 1999.  What I believed was a healthy little boy, was in all actuality a very sick little boy.  Nicky was released from the hospital the day after he was born.  I was only able to spend one glorious day with Nicky before I had to rush him back to the hospital.  Nicky died two hours after arriving at the hospital on September 7, 1999, which is also my birthday.  Not until the autopsy report two months later did I find out why Nicky's life was so short.  Nicky had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which is always fatal if undiagnosed.

For eight months, life was a blur.  M.I.S.S. was such a tremendous help to me that I decided to start a chapter in Indiana.  I have a Bachelor's in psychology and eventually plan on earning my Master's.  If can help others survive the most painful of life's tradegies, then I know Nicky has made a difference not only to me but to others as well.

No matter how short or how long our children's lives are, they all matter.
