Executive Director
It is an honor to take on my position as the first Executive Director of the MISS Foundation. Part of my responsibilities include: evolving the MISS Foundation’s organizational capacity and infrastructure so as to grow the current programs and expand the MISS Foundation outreach around the world.
As some of you know, I have been involved as a volunteer for MISS since 2003. Dr. Cacciatore and I have collaborated on many projects together in the last 7 years. Throughout this time, you have shared your beloved children with me, you have trusted me with your stories, your pain, your triumphs. You have allowed me to be “present” in your most sacred space. You have been incredible teachers. I am forever grateful.
This most intimate education became more poignant for me on April, 17, 2010 when my beautiful Goddaughter, Lizzy, died – she was 67 days old. Because of all of you, and because of mission of the MISS Foundation, I have been able to chaperone Lizzy’s family, my family and honor myself on this unexpected trajectory.
As far as my professional qualifications, I graduated in May 2010 with my Master’s Degree in Social Work and my Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Bereavement from Arizona State University. I am also the current President of the Arizona Bereavement Alliance, a consortium of bereavement professionals in the state of Arizona. Prior to my graduate education, I was the Executive Director of the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation. I firmly believe that my volunteer work with MISS, my professional background and my personal experiences provide me with the tools necessary to steer the “MISS Foundation ship.”
I do not do it alone, however. All of our Members, Volunteers, Officers, and Board Members work together to reach our MISSion. I invite your comments, ideas, and suggestions as we all strive to create a more compassionate world for the bereaved.
