Facilitator, Spokane, Washington

Sarah is a writer, educator, wife to Terry, and mother of four children: Carver, the philosopher, Sophia, the dreamer, Grace, the angel born silently on June 1, 2003, and Sawyer, the magical salve come to offer us hope and healing.

Grace lived her life fully and completely inside of Sarah’s womb and though we don’t always recognize the gifts she’s left behind, we are continually seeking those gifts in every way possible.

Sarah has an MFA in Fiction from Eastern Washington University with a secondary emphasis in Literary Editing and Teaching English as a Second Language.

She has been a leader for many years of various community and national parent-related groups including La Leche League International, Moms of Young Children, and an Elementary School Site Council Board member, and now, most recently, a MISS facilitator.

Her writing and editing experience includes former Managing Editor of Willow Springs magazine, newsletter editor for several local businesses and organizations, former book reviewer for Heinle and Heinle, former Accreditation Editor for Eastern Washington University, and current fiction reader for Bellevue Literary Magazine, www.blreview.org. She has writing forthcoming or recently published The Loss Journal at http://www.kotapress.com/FrameLoss.htm, The Philosophical Mother at http://philosophicalmother.typepad.com/june04tpm/2004/05/daddy_said_knoc.html, and LongStory Short, www.longstoryshort.us.

Sarah’s previous publications include work in New Beginnings: A La Leche League Breastfeeding Journal, former freelance writer for The Daily Pilot newspaper, a community outreach workshop on recruiting volunteers, ESL conference presenter on Poetry Writing in the Classroom and Developing Language Through Writing, and presenter at New York TESOL conference on the university accreditation process.
