Kindness Project

Story of the Month

My latest kindness project story has to do with hair. Yes, my hair, all thirteen inches of my hair.

Yesterday I cut off my very long, auburn hair. I had been growing it since just before I became pregnant with Dawson. I heard of the program "Locks for Love" for children who suffer hairloss due to cancer. Hair donations of 10 inches or longer are used to make hairpieces for children.

Already having about five inches of hair that I wanted cut off, I went ahead and grew it longer. Yesterday I took the plunge and cut it. Turns out I had thirteen inches to give. Enclosed with my hair I attached a short note saying, "For a child who needs it, from a mother who understands loss, In memory of my son Dawson Daniel."

-Linda Weber, Mother of Dawson Daniel Weber
