One of our triplet girls, daughter of our beloved Gretl. Harper Lee came to us as an unexpected surprise after we rescued a very determined Garrett David Bowie (GDW) who was found as an intact stray. Despite all fencing and precaution GDB escaped for a short period of time and impregnated Gretl. Harper Lee entered the world against all odds after surviving a very traumatic birth. She was born second. She was not breathing at first and had to have her airway aspirated and be revived. Despite this terrifying entrance Harper has turned out to be the most tenacious and strong willed of the triplets. Their mother, our beloved Gretl had a valiant fight but ultimately did not survive. With every medical intervention and surrounded by love it was still too much for her to have carried and birthed triplets. For three days the girls bonded with their mother Gretl and received life saving colostrum from nursing. The girls received and continue to receive an outpouring of support from dedicated Carefarm volunteers and staff with round the clock bottle feeding, nurturing and loving protection as they grew to become more independent. Harper Lee and her sisters bring joy and endless laughter to all who have the chance to meet them. They are precocious silly girls that do not hesitate to jump on your lap or your back given the chance. Harper Lee looks the most like her mom Gretl but her personality and spin remind us of her sweet but sassy Auntie Marta.
