Surabi was rescued as a ‘breeder’, meaning she was used to make babies and then her babies were taken from her and sold. She was rescued in a quiet but meaningful way on August 8, 2024, along with her sweet baby Rohini. Now, they will never be separated until one of their deaths. We are so honored to be able to keep these precious nonhumans, who deeply love each other, together. They eat together, sleep together, and play together. It took her about 6 months before she would allow us to touch her, or Rohini, but she’s much more trusting a year later.
