Zsa Zsa came to the Selah Carefarm in December of 2025 after losing her entire duck flock to repeated coyote attacks. Without companions or protection, she was left alone and vulnerable, a social animal suddenly without safety or kin. By the time she arrived, Zsa Zsa was frightened and deeply unsettled, carrying the imprint of loss that animals, like humans, do not simply forget.
Eddie arrived under different but equally tender circumstances. His previous caregiver could no longer meet his needs, and surrendering him was an act of care rather than neglect. Eddie required a place where his daily rhythms, space, and safety could be reliably held.
Today, Zsa Zsa and Eddie share a protected life at the Selah Carefarm. They spend their days swimming in their own private pond, watched over by our guardian dogs and, just as faithfully, our ever-present goats. What was once marked by fear and exposure is now shaped by companionship, routine, and protection. Together, they remind us that safety is not merely the absence of threat, but the presence of others who keep watch.
