Help the Helpers – Contemplative Self-Care Retreat

Help the Helpers – Contemplative Self-Care Retreat

Contemplative self-care retreat for CBC providers and
MISS Foundation volunteers who have experienced bereavement.

Join us for an intimate and peaceful retreat at the Selah Carefarm, where you will learn how to cultivate self-care, compassion, and resilience through contemplative practices. You will also have the opportunity to connect with yourself, others, and nature in a supportive and diverse environment. This retreat is designed for CBC and Advanced CBC providers, Carefarm providers, as well as MISS Foundation volunteers. It will offer you practical tools and techniques to enhance your personal and professional well-being.

Overview of Retreat

We are inviting CBC providers, MISS Foundation Hope mentors and volunteers, to a private contemplative self-care retreat at the Selah Carefarm. The retreat is offered following the Advanced CBC training.

We will learn practices that nurture self-care, compassion, build our stress resilience, and the ability to hold space for ourselves and others we care for. At the end of the retreat, you will have tools to establish your own contemplative practice at home or in your office as well as use some elements in your work with others.

Meditation provides the foundation for contemplative practices. We will provide plainspoken and practical instruction about the body, breath, and mind for meditation and guide you a way to settle down with yourself exactly the way you are now. We will engage in movement and embodiment exercises that help to calm down and restore presence. We will use a council practice to check in with ourselves and others and have a daily period of contemplative work practice. Parts of the retreat will be held in active silence.

This retreat is non-denominational, invites diversity and is open to all genders and races. The beautiful milieu of the Selah Carefarm with its loved and loving rescue animals is a wonderful place to begin a contemplative practice. The landscape invites calm and reflection, allowing small and larger groups intimate groves for conversation, and space for individuals to be comfortable in solitude.
