I am a clinical psychologist who works with youth and their families in an outpatient medical setting (Children’s Rehabilitative Services). I provide diagnostic assessment, treatment planning and individual and family therapy. All the children I work with have chronic or life-threatening medical conditions. As part of my position, I represent the behavioral health component of a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and therapists (physical, occupational, speech). My areas of expertise include spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and sensorineural hearing loss. Working with the children and families I encounter themes of trauma and grief daily in the form of adjustment to medical condition, expectations about the future, and end of life issues.
