I just completed my Master of Arts in Humanities on August 15, 2014. My thesis/creative project was entitled Maternal Grief: A Heuristic Inquiry. This inquiry examines the question: What is the experience of grief as expressed through art and writing by a mother after the loss of her child? The literature review examines the topics of grief, art therapy, and the art of German Expressionist, Kathe Kollwitz. A heuristic inquiry of my personal grief is also presented, including my art and writing.
I want to further my knowledge on the topic so that I can reach out to others and provide support. My son died of SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in Epilepsy), and I want to act as an advocate to promote SUDEP awareness as well.
