As the pediatric palliative care social worker on the Palliative & Supportive Care Team at Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, I provide longitudinal therapeutic support to children, adolescents, young adults and their families throughout the illness trajectory, from diagnosis to death and bereavement. I am also in charge of bereavement support for parents/caregivers and adult siblings of all patients at the hospital; in this capacity, I interact with parents/caregivers whose children have died from accident, homicide, or suicide. I provide 1:1 bereavement counseling support to parents/caregivers, 2:1 support counseling to intact parenting couples, and facilitate our bereavement support groups and programming.
While I am currently unable to provide clinical support to families who are not affiliated with Nemours, I am available to assist with community referrals. Additionally, I serve as a point of contact for our bereavement camp for siblings ages 8-17, which is open to individuals residing in PA, DE, NJ and MD.
