Meaghan Hagen

I currently work for Missouri Network for Opiate Reform & Recovery, a recovery community center in St. Louis city. Our facility provides haven for those in various stages of life. Many are street homeless, sex workers, and individuals in stages of addiction. We provide essential services to individuals actively using and those who are seeking recovery, to those who are in recovery and those who have been affected by substance use. Services include; family support groups, self help groups, Naloxone education and distribution, harm reduction education, peer support and mentoring, community education and legislative advocacy. Every day our doors are open and we are working for real change and solutions for everyone that has been impacted by opiate/heroin addiction and use. My family has been personally affected by addiction, I lost my 21 year old brother to a heroin overdose in 2013. He is not the only individual in my family that has fell victim to this disease and I strive to make a change in the world affected by substance use and the losses associated with this disease; loss of opportunities, relationships, even death.
