Performs social services and psychotherapy functions to include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychosocial needs while providing assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy treatment of individuals to assist patient’s in achieving their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, psycho-education, complete specialized clinical psychotherapy services for patients receiving care, crisis intervention, short-term therapy, and providing information and referrals as needed.

Coordinates on-scene emergency response as part of Tempe’s 911 system. Assist TPD in completing emergent and non-emergent involuntary petition/amendment including accompaniment on pick-up orders. Provide in-home comprehensive assessments when appropriate. Assess risk, effectively engage with clients, develop plans, and follow-up as needed. Work effectively and respectfully with clients, families, schools, first responders and all others involved. Focus of care will be residents with mental health issues, including adults, adolescents and children, and providing family interventions. Ability to stabilize different ages and stages of development/lifespan and various cultural backgrounds and experiences. Respond to a variety of identified incidents, working directly with members of the community thus diverting police personnel from providing an emergency response. Provide comprehensive on-scene mental health triage and safety planning. Act as a mental health liaison for the Tempe Police Department, as well as other city departments. Provide referrals to appropriate community resources for a variety of client mental health needs and supports. Knowledge of effective, evidence-based crisis interventions.

Coordinates case management services for justice involved Veterans participating in the East Valley Regional Veterans Court and for the Tempe Mental Health Court participants who are considered General Mental Health (GMH). Supervises long term case management services for Tempe residence and Veterans. Assists with Crisis Response efforts, Community Outreach, Homelessness Intervention, and Long-Term Case Management. Responsible for intakes, assessments, and appropriate interventions to address clients’ needs. Attends and participates in staffing for Regional Veterans Court and aid Veterans in connecting to community partners outside of services offered at VA. Attends and participates in staffing for Tempe Mental Health Court and supervising Case Management Services for the GMH participants. Manages data entry into case-management programs to track grant compliance and inform best practices. Responds to clients, community partners and other city work groups via written, phone, email correspondence. Responsible for case management, transportation, providing emergency resources and appropriate interventions for CARE7 clients and Emergency Housing Units.
