Laurie-Beth Brennan

Medical Liaison & HOPE Mentor

Laurie-Beth is a Registered Nurse who has specialized in both Labor and Delivery, and Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery. She holds a Certificate in the Study of Loss and Grief from UC Berkeley, and a Grief Counseling Certification from the American Academy of Grief Counseling. The support she has found at the MISS Foundation has allowed her to focus some of her professional abilities on helping other parents whose children receive a life-limiting diagnosis, by volunteering her time as a private consultant to these prenatal families.

Her daughter Serena was prenatally diagnosed with Trisomy 13 in 1997, and she searched everywhere for help and support with Serena’s diagnosis and found none. Her daughter’s death left her feeling alone for many years, until finding the MISS Foundation in 2006. Through the Foundation’s Online Support Forums, Laurie-Beth was able to meet other grieving parents, helping her to realize that her struggles were a normal part of the life-long journey of grief and healing. She is a member of the MISS Foundation’s Online Support Forums Administration Team, Moderator of several of the Online Support Forums, a HOPE Mentor in Fremont, California, and a medical liaison to the Foundation.
