I decided to get involved as a volunteer with the MISS Foundation after the death of my 9 year-old son. My son, Zakary passed away on February 18, 2015 due to complications from a severe traumatic brain injury he suffered in a car accident a year before he died. After doing a lot of grief and trauma work of my own with therapy, local support groups, GriefShare, and various other groups I decided to work with others and be support to them on their grief journey’s.
